Chapter Thirteen
Kennedy
I hated when my father and the guy I was talking to were in the same room. My father was very possessive of his girls and he always made things awkward. To add to that, he caught Sean and I in bed basically finger fucking. I was beyond mortified but I guess the cat is out the bag. Kennedy is not daddy’s precious virgin baby girl anymore. We decided to take separate cars to dinner. My mother, father, and sister rode together, and Sean and I rode together. The ride was a silent one until Sean used the control panel on his steering wheel to turn the radio down.
“Yo, why you act like you didn’t want me to come?” He looked at me briefly then returned his attention back to the road.
“I didn’t mean for you to feel like that; I just get nervous around my father. He expects so much out of us and I know I disappoint him.” He looked at me as if I was crazy.
“You talking like I ain’t good enough or something.” I placed my hand on my forehead as I squeezed it.
“No Sean. My dad just never thinks anyone is good enough, and I don’t want him to think that about you.”
“Well do this baby girl. Stop worrying about what he is thinking and concentrate on showing him that I am. When you nut up, he is going to have no respect for our relationship. When you flaunt me, and show him I’m that nigga, which I am, he can do nothing but respect it. But on the real, don’t do no childish shit like that again, ma. If I am your man, you never front on it. Not even for your pops.”
I took in all Sean said to me and felt stupid for being afraid to introduce Sean to my father. I grabbed his hand and kissed him on the cheek.
“I apologize baby; it won’t happen again.” He gave me his sexy smile as he tongued me down at the red light.
When we arrived at the restaurant, Sean walked over to my door and opened it as he helped me out. I grabbed his hand and never let it go as we were shown to our table. I don’t know what happened between appetizers and after dinner drinks, but Sean and my father were laughing and joking like old friends. I looked over at my mother as she winked her eye at me.
It felt great to have my family love someone I loved. Leah wasn’t even paying us any attention as she kept smiling at her phone.
“Leah, come with me to the bathroom.” She wasn’t answering me so I elbowed her in the arm.
“Huh?” she asked as she looked up at me confused.
“Come with me to the bathroom girl.”
Once we were inside the ladies room, I had to know what or should I say who had her head gone.
“Leah, who has your head all in the clouds?” I asked as I walked into the empty stall.
